The site is fairly central, and is of easy access from the Harbor and from the most frequented portions of the City. It would be difficult to find a more healthy site, and its proximity to the Lock Hospital will save the necessity of increasing Medical Staff, which would without doubt be the case if the Civil Hospital were to be erected elsewhere.
5. Disposing then of this portion of the question, I have to suggest that Plans for the new Hospital be procured from some competent Architect in England. It is to be hoped, if your Lordship approves of this course, that the Plans might reach the Colony soon after the building season and that, therefore, within such time as the present tropical weather may be expected to last, the new building may be erected.
6. I have not yet asked the Council to vote the money required for this undertaking. It seems to me that it would be better to defer so doing until I can accurately understand the financial condition of the Colony. Suffice it to say that every one seems agreed that a
